IKC is working to improve vaccination rates in the state of Kansas, paying special attention to adolescent vaccines. There are two types of meningococcal vaccines licensed in the United States: Meningococcal conjugate vaccines (MenACWY) and Serogroup B meningococcal vaccine (MenB). These vaccines help prevent the most common causes of meningococcal disease in the U.S.
Originally, IKC's goal with this toolkit was to increase MenACWY vaccination rates to meet the Healthy People 2020 goal of 80%. Since 2019, the rate of Kansas teens receiving at least one dose of the quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine has met or exceeded the 80% goal, but Kansas still has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country.
