Immunize Kansas Coalition Develops Outreach Materials for Respiratory Season

March 14, 2024

Immunize Kansas Coalition (IKC) is excited to share their new educational resources to highlight the importance of immunization in protecting communities from respiratory viruses.

IKC’s Respiratory Season Brochure highlights COVID-19, Flu, and RSV. Viewers can learn about each disease, its symptoms, and how to prevent illness through vaccination. To help expand access to COVID-19 vaccines, they created the Bridge Access Program Insert Card, which features CDC’s Bridge Access Program. It shares who qualifies for the program, where to receive free vaccines, and when these vaccines are no longer accessible for free. To reach multiple audiences across the state, cards and brochures are available in English and Spanish!

For a personal and visual outreach approach, IKC continues to build off of their Honest Conversations Campaign. The new videos amplify immunization stories from two Southwest Kansans as they share the importance of flu vaccination in protecting their loved ones. "By getting the flu vaccine, I would be protecting my brother. He had heart surgery and if he gets sick it could really hurt him, and land him in the hospital,” Diego expressed. To reach a diverse audience, these videos are available in English and Spanish.

While the peak season of these respiratory viruses may be over, there is still a lot of activity, according to the CDC. Find highlight cards, brochures, and more in our growing library of easy-to-understand resources, perfect for distributing at community events!
