Immunize Kansas Coalition Announces New Executive Director

Immunize Kansas Coalition (IKC) announced Geovannie Gone, LMAC, MS has been named Executive Director of the nonprofit devoted to protecting all Kansans from vaccine-preventable diseases.

“I am beyond excited and humbled to be able to serve as the first Executive Director for IKC and continue the astounding work that this coalition does. I have been waiting for an opportunity to lead a statewide organization that is aligned with my skills and that truly works together with key organizations across the state to produce results. The work of protecting Kansas from vaccine-preventable diseases is important, and I'm glad that I can be part of it,” said Geovannie Gone.

Originally from Mexico and a long-time resident of Garden City, KS, Gone previously served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Genesis Family Health. As the Chief Administrative Officer, she oversaw the development and implementation of organization and business strategies, community outreach teams, new business initiatives, addressed health equity, diversity, and related objectives. Gone prides in serving her community, she currently serves as a member of the state of Kansas nursing board and is a advisor for the Kansas Hispanic Latino American Affairs commission.

“Ms. Gone comes from a strong background of healthcare, community involvement, and knowledge about the needs of all Kansans," said IKC Chair, Kelly Sommers, BSN, RN. “By increasing knowledge and understanding of the importance of vaccines and vaccine access, Geovannie will enable IKC to create stronger, healthy children and adults.”

Ms. Gone is the first Executive Director of IKC and began her new position on November 14, 2022. As Executive Director, Gone will be responsible for the leadership and growth of the coalition internally and externally. Her duties include strategic partnerships and planning, development, advocacy, and media relations.

“The enthusiasm she brings to Immunize Kansas Coalition is truly a gift to everyone in our state.” said Sommers.

Immunize Kansas Coalition (IKC), launched in 2015, is a group of more than 45 individual and organization members and over 100 engaged individuals with diverse perspectives – healthcare providers, health departments, researchers, educators, healthcare payers, associations and nonprofits, vaccine producers, school nurses, pharmacists, parents, grandparents, and more who bring their expertise to support our mission: To protect all Kansans from vaccine-preventable diseases.
