New 2021 NIS-Teen (National Immunization Survey - Teen) vaccination data was released on September 2nd. Read the CDC MMWR Report and check out the data on the interactive TeenVaxView tool. In this article, we'll give a brief breakdown of the HPV, MenACWY, and Tdap vaccination rates for Kansas and show where we're at now compared to previous years, the U.S., and our targets.
This data (and more!) is also available on the IKC Data Dashboard
In summary: Kansas showed increases in 2021 for HPV and MenACWY vaccination rates, while Tdap fell slightly (again).
We are excited to see progress in protecting Kansans from HPV-related cancers and meningitis, while acknowledging the importance of continued efforts to protect Kansans from tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. Thank you to the KDHE Kansas Immunization Program for leading these efforts and all immunization partners for your great work - it makes a difference!
Please keep in mind that the following graphs and estimates summarize changes without speaking to statistical significance. See CDC's TeenVaxView TeenVaxView for additional data on other states, sample sizes, and confidence intervals for estimates.
