The Immunize Kansas Coalition headed to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the
15th Annual National Conference for Immunization Coalitions and Partners (NCICP ), the only conference dedicated to collaboration and partnership as a way to improve immunization uptake, educate our communities, and prevent the spread of disease. The conference was well-represented by IKC members and partners, with 16 attending and four of us speaking across three breakout sessions. IKC Staff, Emily Bailey and Connie Satzler alongside Elizabeth Faber with
Iowa Immunizes presented “A Coalition Capacity-Building Journey as an Interactive Learning Lab” a session focused on sustainability within a coalition.
Ali Hilton, with Nurture KC and Director of Mid America Immunization Coalition (MAIC) presented “Research and Polling as Effective Tools for Advocacy” showcasing the polling results that helped dismantle many bills during the last legislative session.
Heather Braum, Health Policy Advisor at Kansas Action for Children (KAC) and IKC Policy Chair, received the excellence in Immunization Advocacy Award. Heather also presented “Stories from Statehouses: Winning the Vaccine Policy Fight” during the advocacy session with other immunization partners. Most of all, we enjoyed connecting with partners from across the country. One of our members shared, “It was absolutely the best conference (content and friends) I have ever attended!” We would like to thank Immunzie.org and Voices for Vaccines for hosting such an impactful conference full of networking, knowledge, and lessons learned by others in the immunization community across the nation.
